Because you’re now coming back to a stage that you should have done a while ago, the items available will not be quite as good as you might hope. However, the “MOONBEAM” (Moon Beam) item is something that you have not seen available for quite some time. Pick up a few if your units are filled to the brim with evil classes & characters. The rest of these items are pretty standard, really.

By this point in your game, you should have your fill of these classes from repeated encounters on the previous stages you just did. Besides, the levels of these three creatures are
probably much too low for your liking. Unless you do this stage as soon as you are able to. In that case, you might want to befriend a few Silver Dragons, and maybe an Ice Giant or two. Skip the Rock Golem!

Practically all of the units on this stage are optimized for snow travel. Well, except for the obligatory flying units! You will see lots of Silver Dragons & Ice Giants in the various enemy units. The reason why these are irritating is because they haul in the snow. If you have any characters with the Snow terrain type that you have been dying to use, crank ‘em out on this stage! Something that would be highly advantageous to you would be
to send your units packin' with characters that have Fire attacks or Fire weapons equipped. The Red Dragon family might fit the bill here, because there are some mountains that are in the way in several places. Don't forget that a Muse has the Snow terrain type too!

Prologue: As a result of dark sorcery cast 25 years ago, the entire Kalbian region is a snowy wasteland all
year round. Figaro, one of the four Devas & Debonair’s best friend, is the man in charge here. Legend says he’s the prince of a small kingdom, but no one’s certain. Figaro is a man of action, who trusts Empress Endora completely. He’s armed with his powerful
magical sword that he intends to use against the rebellion.
This is a large stage, with all kinds of terrain littering the topography. However, now you finally get a chance to use all of those characters with the Snow terrain type that you have been collecting. There are two things that make this stage more difficult than others. The first is the size. It will take forever to get all the way down there to the boss castle of Kalbia. It is manageable, tho. The second one can be much much more troublesome in the long run. If you waited until after beating Shangrila so that you can bring Debonair here, the levels of your characters will probably be pretty high, Level 15 or 16 at least. The levels of the enemy units on this stage are not very high at all, maybe going as high as 13 or 14. So, any classes that you have that have a very delicate situation with their Charisma & Alignment should probably not be used. The Beast Man & Red Dragon families of classes are the most vulnerable here, as it is pretty difficult to keep these units happy for class promotions. This is even more important on the SNES version, as you cannot save your game in the middle of a stage, and have to go through it in one shot. Just make sure that after you have gone through all of this trouble, you at least use Debonair to confront the boss!
Deployment Time! The path that you should be taking is pretty straight forward for this map. There are a
few towns off of the main path, but not too many. Send Canopus to the northwestern corner of the map to liberate the towns of Bosetyn & Suntsubal. You will want to have one of your fighting flying units, like Gilbert, wander around the islands north of Kalbia, because every now and then, an enemy flying unit
or two will come wandering around by here. You can also get a spy to check in on the boss castle when you get close enough, and draw some units that way to lessen the load on the main path. All the rest
of your units should go down the main road, and have some units break off in the other directions when there is a fork in the road to liberating the town that is at the end of the offshoot road, like when you get
near the towns of Glyng ‘Bry & Entel Stand. You can have your Opinion Leader find the Chaos Gate to Organa while everyone else is fighting. It will keep him/her nice & out of the way! You most definitely do not want
him/her to fight or kill anything on this stage! His/her level is probably much higher than the enemy’s, and it could lead to big big problems later on!
Step 1: Your trip to the towns in the NW corner is not an uneventful one for you. Upon freeing the town of Suntsubal, the people here will warn you about all of the cold creatures that you will be fighting against.
Like you couldn’t have guessed that one on you own by just looking at the map! The town of Bosetyn, however, is much more meaningful a reward.
You will get a “Sell For Goth” item after liberating this town, and the item that you get is dependent on how full your Reputation Meter is. If it is high, you will receive a “PENDANT” (Forest Pendant). If it’s average, you’ll get a “HERBS” (Lemming Herbs).
Finally, if you are a bottom feeder, you’ll get the “CARVING” (Statue of Woe). Each one gives you a pretty decent influx of funds to your war chest when you sell it from the item screen.
You can never get all three of them in the same game; only one per customer!
Step 2: From this point on, it is just a matter of how long it takes you to
advance southwards along the main road. The enemy units will all be able to move very quickly in the snow, so if you don’t have any units with the Snow terrain type of your own, you have to be especially careful about defending your towns, because they will be able to beat you in a race should such a case happen. But since all but like two or three of your units are going to be in this area, you should be okay with sheer numbers. The big open area to the SW of Entel Stand can get crazy.
Step 3: The migration south will slow considerably once you send a unit or two
off to the east to liberate the towns over there. But you’ll want to, because the shop town of Olesun is over there, along with a buried treasure or two. You can have some fun if you want by having all of your flying units cut over the big mountain range that is to the NE of the boss castle Kalbia. You just have to be careful about your units that march south, because there aren’t many refueling stops you can rest at along the way.
You will want to do a good job of shuffling which units fight, due to the low enemy character levels.
Step 4: Liberating the town of Belgen,
will provide you with some more class information. They will ask you if you wouldn’t like to know something. Say “YES,” and they will tell you which classes are weak against Cold attacks. Say “NO,” and they will say which classes are weak against Fire attacks. By this time, you flying units should be around Buried Treasure #4, and have the ability to “activate” some of the enemy units to attack your units up here instead of go down the road. This can help get your units right up to the boss castle. These two fronts effectively fence in the enemy units. You will want to try and liberate Drummen, which is right on the back porch of Kalbia, but you have to come from the direct south to avoid activating
the boss dialogue itself. You’ll want Debonair to do that! I usually wait to liberate this town until after all of the enemy units are gone, which is should be close to happening once all of your units are at this position. So get Debonair close, and after a day or two of collecting Goth from tributes...

4 Direct & 1 Targeted
These two old friends will have some words before finally getting to it. This boss fight would have been difficult if you didn’t wait to do this stage until now! Debonair in the Front Row might be all that you need, backed up with a few classes with Hit-All attacks, especially White attacks to really lay into the Black Dragons. Now, if you did not wait until you got Debonair, you’re in for a fight! The entire unit is weak to White attacks, so cut loose with a “Judgment” Tarot Card. The “Emperor” card is a nice idea also, as well as the “Fool” card to completely remove the two creatures blocking your way to Figaro. Figaro himself has only one targeted attack from the Back Row, but his attack can hit for a ton. It can insty-kill one of your weaker characters if they are low enough! Be very weary of it! Once he has attacked, though, the battle should be cake.
Here is your reward for waiting this long to complete this stage is right here! If you used Debonair to confront Figaro, you will see a bonus dialogue after the battle. Figaro admits to choosing his own path, and offers encouragement to save the highlands on his death bed. He will then give Debonair his very own sword, the “DURANDAL” (Durandal), as his dying gift.
You’ll find it in your item list after the stage is over. Better make sure that you’ve got room for it in your inventory, otherwise you won’t get the chance to get it!
Even though it looks like a ton of things are for the taking on this stage, you can’t get every single one, due to Reputation restrictions. And, of course the whole needing Debonair thing to get the weapon!

There is literally nothing to do here once the stage is beaten! Well, maybe a Chaos Gate and some buried treasure that you didn’t get while on the stage. But very minimal dealings otherwise.
1) If you did not already find it, there is a Chaos Gate to Organa on this stage. It is located in the extreme NW of the map. You see the section of water up there? There is a small-ish peninsula of green area up there, with a mountain expanding out onto it slightly. The Chaos Gate is in the open area slightly to the NE of that moutain. If you’re still confused by my wording, just pop up the damn map! Of course, you must have the unit searching for the Chaos Gate equipped with the “BRUNHILD” (Brunhild) in order to even find it!
