the best class in this line is by far the Pixie.  Reason being is that since she’s already Level 23, you can instantly promote a fresh recruit right into a Sylph!  It’s like taking candy from a baby! Find as many of these possible, because Sylphs are so great. The other two aren’t so great at this point in the game.

Unit# 22-1

Except for only one or two units, the rest will contain either High Sky or Water mobility in them. This will make the recovery time of the enemy insanely high, allowing them to get anywhere on the map they please. No town is safe from them. Well, perhaps Lon Loques & R.T. #1 are!  Anyway, as for how to combat these beasts, all I have to say is start spreadin' the MuseSorry ‘bout that... Along with any other classes that have massive Lightning attacks.  There will be tons of characters weak to Lightning based attacks, so having these ladies in your units will go a long way in you being victorious. Fire attacks will be strong against not only these watery creatures too, but also to the humanoids that accompany them.  If you want to use a Water unit of your own, you actually could on this stage and not get burned too badly by it.

Beat The Stage!

Prologue:  Legend has it that there within the region including the Shrine of Kulyn, there resides a goblet of tremendous power.  This rather unremarkable-looking cup gives the owner a king’s dignity, and the power to control others. King Gran gave this holy chalice to the knight Parcival, and ordered him to keep it from evil hands at all costs. Parcival took this item, called the “GRAIL” (Grail), and disappeared. The Empire is in hot pursuit of this item, and Empress Endora has sent the strongest of the four Devas, General Luvalon, to find it.  The hunt for the “GRAIL” (Grail) is on!

Make no mistake, the final Mystic Treasure called the “GRAIL” (Grail) can be found on this stage. However, you must first eliminate your competition, who comes in the form of General Luvalon.  He is a very resilient boss, capable of withstanding harsh punishment. His weaknesses are few, and he packs quite a punch himself! And on top of that, the stage terrain is almost 90% deep ocean, with numerous hidden towns and temples to liberate!  You’ll need to keep yourself on high alert the whole duration of your conquest this time, due to the enemy unit speed and possible sneak attacks on undefended towns.

Deployment Time!
At least the path of enemy units is straight forward.  They will come directly from the north from the boss castle of Cruen, so your first objective should be the town of Angua.  Send Canopus to the SW corner of the map for the town of Lon Loques & R.T. #1.  Send some other city liberators to the NW to capture the towns of Tridan & Grenadin.  Your Opinion Leader can actually get into the mix here somewhat, as you can send him to the east safely to liberate the towns of Gwadorn & Lastanshon.  This will free up a city liberator or two to make a mad dash to the middle section of the map.  With the aid of some fighting units, of course. Be careful, because almost every enemy unit will move really fast across the board, because they mostly water units or fly.  Remember, Water units move slightly faster over water than High Sky units do, so take that into account...

Step 1:  Liberating the town of Gwadorn will provide some back history on the “GRAIL” (Grail), which happens to be the item that both the Empire and your rebellion are seeking.  For further information, they say to visit the town of Maltinique, which is hidden on an island up north. Gee, way to be specific! Good thing you have this trusty guide to show you right where it is! The other town in this region of the map, the hidden town of Lastanshon, has nothing really important to say, other than Empress Endora hopes to use it to revive her crumbling empire.  At this point, you should also have the lower middle region of the map secure after liberating the town of Angua.  You’ll start to see the enemy come pouring down from the north to slight NE of this town. This should allow you to sneak a unit or two over to your next objective, the shop town of San Martin.

Step 2:  As you liberate the grouping of dwellings in the lower SW corner of the map, you will find some useful information. R.T. #1 tells you that a knight visited this temple 25 years ago. He looked normal, but there was something special about him, almost as though he was not of this world... That knight’s name was Parcival...  As for the hidden town of Lon Loques, you are greeted by a thief.  He tells you that your actions have helped his kind greatly, and that they want to thank you with a gift of some kind. You have two options: Accept or Decline.  If you do accept their gift, you will receive an item called the “CAMEO” (Empress Cameo), but it will cost you some serious Reputation.  It drains probably about 1/6th of a full bar!  For this stage in particular, it might not be wise to lose the so much Reputation in one shot.  This is because you need it to be as high as possible for the aftermath of this stage. If you had a full bar before you said yes, and you still have towns & temples left to liberate, you probably could fill it back up to a full bar by using some goodly city liberators. If you decline the offer, you find out that it was actually a Roshian Monk in disguise, and she was testing you. You get nothing for this choice, except personal satisfaction hat you haven’t been corrupted by thieves. The choice is yours...

A thief?

Step 3:  The west to NW region of this map has some interesting things happening over here. Upon liberating the town of Tridan, you will be greeted by a real Roshian Monk. She tells you that Luvalon has became powerful by covering himself in dragon’s blood.  She then asks if you want her to find his weak point with magic. But it’s gonna cost ya, chief! The sum is a whopping 150,000 Goth! Don’t worry though, and just pay it. You’ll see.  She will discover that he is weak to Fire, and will also give you a Fire imbued weapon called “BOLEAS” (Boleas)!  So in essence, you are paying 150K for the “BOLEAS” (Boleas).  Not bad, if you need such a weapon and have lots of Goth to spare.  The bonus is that this is also one of the four ‘legendary’ weapons that you must assemble in order to get the “FIRESEAL” (Firecrest)!  If you care about that item, that is. otherwise it’s just a super tough weapon for a member of your army.

A REAL Roshian Monk!

Step 4:  Once you have liberated the town of San Martin, since it is so close to the boss castle of Cruen, the enemy units will really flock to this spot, and send almost every unit it has to try and win this town back.  You will want several units here, because even if you have an uber unit that can kill any & everything, it will soon plummet in Charisma & Alignment from the excessive fighting.  So, have a bunch of your units ready to greet the advance.  When you finally reach the town of Maltinique, they tell you the truth about the “GRAIL” (Grail).  It looks like an ordinary goblet on the outside, but when people look at the inside of it, it drives them crazy, and susceptible to mind control.  That is the reason why everyone is fighting over control of it. It would make whoever possesses this item unstoppable as a ruler.

Step 5:  Liberating the hidden town of Mulligan’s Land provides yet even more info. When you finally make it all the way up here, the people here tell you that King Gran found the “GRAIL” (Grail) right here at the Shrine of Kulyn.  He then used it to help found & form his kingdom. Whether he actually used this item or not is open for debate.  No one has ever seen the grail before...  However, liberating this town should be one of the last things that you do.  the reason why is because if you liberate it when there are too many enemy units still running around, they will all about face and target this town with all of their might. Mulligan’s Land has a big bull’s eye on it, so get ready for some heavy fightin’!

Step 5:  R.T. #3, way in the NW corner on a tiny island first makes fun of you for not finding the grail yet, but then offers up some helpful insight.  They tell you that the only soul who knows where the grail is is the knight Parcival.  He left by order of King Gran and hid himself, along with the “GRAIL” (Grail).  Now that you have put together the information, you know that find this knight in order to get your hands on the “GRAIL” (Grail).  But don’t forget that you are not alone in your quest to find this item!  There is still the not so small manner of defeating the last of the four Devas, Luvalon!  You will need a very very strong unit to do battle with here, with as many Fire based attacks as you can muster.  The newly acquired “BOLEAS” (Boleas) will be a huge help, along with any other heavy hitting elemental weapons like it. Liches are the best choice, like say a Warren or Saradin.  Get your unit ready, and...

4 Direct, 2 Targeted, & 1 Targeted

Start the fight off with a “Magician” Tarot Card to soften things, up, and let your Fire Hit-All attacks do the rest.  They should drop the Front Row Samurai quickly, allowing your own Front Row to inflict damage directly to Luvalon.  Make sure that you focus as many Fire attacks onto Luvalon himself to end to battle quickly. Since he is in the Back Row, he’ll only get off one high powered shot at you, so you shouldn’t have to worry too much about taking damage.  A boss battle that doesn’t need a “World” for a change!  The simple key to winning is to use the most powerful Fire based weapons that you have in your arsenal, which is why getting a strong one like the “BOLEAS” (Boleas) on this stage is extra nice.

And now, a message from your sponsor...

I’d like to clear up a rather large & nasty falsehood that I’ve been indirectly helping to been perpetrated around the web.  It involves how you have to beat this boss. The rumor that went around was that in order to get the “GRAIL” (Grail), you had to defeat Luvalon without using any Tarot Cards or run away from the battle!  This is completely untrue!! It is one of the primary reasons why I even bothered to do a complete site overhaul, among other things. Hopefully now that my site has this rather large mishap cleared up, things that myth will quietly go away...

Once Luvalon has fallen, you will get a post-match dialogue box with him.  he gracefully acknowledges that you are the better warrior, and present you with his own weapon, the “BIZEN” (Bizen Sword).  it is not a uber super weapon (which is maybe why he lost!), but it is a neat little trophy piece for you.  His dying wish is that the one who defeats him gets his sword, of the part you are only happy to indulge!

General Luvalon, defeated!

Aftermath

Only one thing left to do! And that’s to pick up the “GRAIL” (Grail)!

1) Travel all the way up to the former boss castle of Cruen, and if your Reputation is basically full, you will be greeted by the apparition of Parcival. He informs you that King Gran had ordered him to protect the “GRAIL” (Grail) at all costs. But he sees that you are a true hero, and presents the “GRAIL” (Grail) to you to ensure its safety.  Congrats! You now have all 3 of the Mystic Treasures!!!  For a quick head count, that would be the “BRUNHILD” (Brunhild), the “ARMBAND” (Mystic Armband), and now the “GRAIL” (Grail). All three stooges! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!
